Mustangs tamed by Albany College of Pharmacy

Auburn, ME - In their last home game for a few weeks, Central Maine lost a hard fought battle against a very good Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Science team. The Mustangs came out hard and for the first 17 minutes it was a good back and forth contest until Panther forward Julia Roemer broke through the Mustang defense for the first of her three goals to put Albany up 1-0. The first half saw a well-played physical match with the Panthers outshooting the Mustangs but not able to get anything more past Central Maine goalkeeper, Emma Johnson (Monmouth, ME).

The second half had the Mustangs still playing well at midfield and in their attacking third but not getting quality shots on net while the Panthers were able to double their lead in the sixth minute on a goal by Emily D'Abrosca to go up 2-0. A second Roemer goal 15 minutes later gave the Panthers a 3-0 lead. At the 71 minute mark of the game the Mustangs finally got on the scoreboard after a Rachel Dunn free kick led to a scramble in front of the net and a goal by Emily Wallingford (Minot, ME). A worn out Mustang defense led to goals by Lindsay Beach and Roemers third of the day in the in the 79th and 84th minutes of the game to complete the scoring and give Albany College of Pharmacy a 5-0 win.

After the game, the Mustangs loaded the buses and headed up north for their game the next day at University of Maine at Fort Kent.
