Clippers sail past Mustangs

Auburn, ME - Wednesday afternoon saw the 2nd meeting of the Mustangs and the Clippers this season, this time CMCC was host. CMCC jumped out in front when 18-minutes into the match Kenneth Ball provided Salah Issack with a through pass on the ground with Issack easily put past the Machias goalkeeper. CM looked good for the rest of the 1st half with the score remaining 1-0. In the second half Machias took over the game and the first 10-minutes the ball was in the defensive half for CM. The defense held until Ridwan Hassan was able to score in the 63rd minute. At the 74th minute the Clippers scored again when Haidar Al-Freihy provided Craig Gendreau with a cross. Al-Freihy was awarded a penalty kick just 4 minutes later and scored again in the 86th minute to finish the game 4-1 in favor of Machias.

Ricky Thompson and Nate Foye both played well in the midfield for the Mustangs. After the game Head Men's Soccer Coach, Bryan Wallace, said, "I was very pleased how we played for the first half, very controlled and focused. Even the first part of the second half, we defended really well. As a non-conference match we took the opportunity to try some different tactics and players. Machias came to play the entire 90-minutes and took advantage in the second half, but overall I'm pleased and feel we learned some things to implement in our remaining conference matches."

CM travels to NHTI on Friday in an important YSCC conference match up.
