Mustangs add another Red Eddie

Auburn, ME – The Central Maine Community College hockey team continued a frenetic summer of retooling as they announced the commitment of local standout Reed Chapman. Chapman is the third Edward Little graduate the Mustangs have announced this off-season after the commitments of Gage Doucette and Dylan Campbell were announced in preceding weeks, adding to an exciting and upcoming Mustangs club that has its sights set on regional play.

Chapman, a versatile player and effective power forward, comes to Central Maine after a successful senior season that saw his club advance to the state semi-finals before falling in triple overtime to Scarborough. After passing at the opportunity to play junior hockey, opting to finish his high school career, he accrued 7 points (2 G, 5 A) in 14 games with the Eddies despite missing several games due to injury.

"Reed is a great addition to our club," said Mustangs head coach Matt Buotte. "He's another kid who we have a really high familiarity with. He's local, we know him well, and we're excited about what we're getting. He's going to add character, depth, and skill to our group. He brings as lot of what we were missing last year and I'm really excited to work with him. I think our fans will love him."

If the Chapman name sounds familiar to Mustang fans, it should—Reed's older brother Cade skated for the club in the 2016-17 season, the first in program history.

"I was first interested in CM when my older brother started to play hockey there," said the Mustangs new recruit. "I really took a liking to the hockey program when I got the opportunity to ride the bus with them to an away game. It was quite the experience! I also chose CM for the trade programs. It just happened to be close to home."

Chapman, who has had success at all levels of the game at both the team and personal levels, figures to make an immediate impact on and off the ice.

"I want to bring a high level of intensity to the game," he said. "I always try my best to give 110% on the ice and bring a great attitude. Off the ice I will strive to be the best I can in the classroom and treat people with kindness. I am looking forward to playing with a few of my old teammates and making some new friends and memories as well."

Chapman will be enrolled in the colleges HVAC program when classes begin in the fall.
