Hockey inks All-Star Dubois

Auburn, ME – The Central Maine Community College hockey team is thrilled to announce the commitment of NA3HL all-star Owen Dubois. Dubois comes to the Mustangs after a breakout year with the Maine Wild where he notched 8 goals and 11 assists while playing defense for the first time in his career.

Dubois, a Saco, Maine native, had a noteworthy career with Thornton Academy where he graduated in 2018 after averaging over a point per game in a stellar senior season that also saw him receive the team's Coaches Award. From there he made the jump to the independent Seacoast Spartans where he played a full season before returning to the Biddeford area to lace them up for the hometown Wild.

"Owen is a phenomenal talent," said Mustangs third year head coach Matt Buotte. "He's a kid that has been very high on our list for a very long time. He's a great kid and a great player. This is a really great day for our program."

Dubois, who has played forward throughout his career before his one season of all-star caliber defense, figures to add an element of size, skill, and offensive flair that the club lacked in a 2019-20 season that saw the club finish outside of the picture for ACHA regional play. He is looking forward to joining a familiar cast—several current Mustangs have played with Dubois previously—and helping the team push on to new heights.

"It's always been my dream to be a student athlete," said Dubois of the opportunity. "I feel like Central Maine is a great school to do so. I decided on CM because of the location and how small the school is. It will allow me to get out of my comfort zone, meet some new people, and gain some new opportunities without going too far from my roots in southern Maine."

After taking two years off from school while pursuing a junior hockey career Dubois is anxious to return to his studies. He will be studying physical fitness when classes resume this September.

"My whole life has revolved around sports," he said of his choice of major. "I'm excited to be able to put it to use in my studies. I feel like it's a great opportunity to get back into things. I'm looking forward to getting after it and making a huge push with the boys throughout the season."
