Softball adds to booming recruiting class

Auburn, ME - Head Softball Coach, Bruce Robertson, is pleased to announce the commitment of Erskine Academy senior, Maddy Boynton.

Maddy stated, "CM is the place for me because it feels so welcoming here. The campus provides a safe environment while being close enough to home that I can go back at any time and visit while still staying on campus. When touring CM everyone was so friendly and answered all my questions. Everyone was so helpful making my decision an easy one. I really like the view from the dorms of Lake Auburn it gives you that home feeling. The size of the school is perfect it is a smaller school with a big school feel."

On her commitment to play softball at Central Maine, Maddy mentioned, "I am really excited to play softball in college. I have had love for this game since I was five years old and feel this is what is next for me in my softball career. I am looking forward to playing with new teammates, making new friends and building new relationships. I feel one of the biggest challenges for me will be facing college pitchers and adjusting to the speed of the game. But I feel I am up to the challenge. I am excited to learn more about the game, play new positions and doing what is needed from me that is best for the team."

Erskine Academy Coach, Holly Tripp, commented, "Maddy is one of my Captains. She is an incredibly smart and tough player who knows how to play the ball while not being out of position. She is my lead-off hitter who sets the tempo of the game for us right off the start. In her Junior year she batted.304. She is incredibly dependable while sporting a great sense of humor. She will be a great fit for the Mustangs"

Coach Robertson commented, "Maddy is a great addition. She has a lot to offer the Mustangs. I cannot say this enough that at CM we are looking for team first players and Maddy fits that bill. I am in hopes that being a lead-off hitter Maddy can get on base, cause havoc and make things happen for us. We are looking to build something special for our 2019-20 season and having a player with Maddy's skills, mindset and desire will continue to help get us to our destination."

Maddy who is a High Honor Student at Erskine will be enrolled in Medical Coding Program at CM.
