Theriault, Bessey named to YSCC All-Conference Team

Auburn, ME - Last weekend at the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) Softball Tournament in Portsmouth, NH, two Mustangs were recognized for their efforts during the regular season.

Sophomore shortstop, Alex Bessey (Jay, ME), owned shortstop for the Mustangs while serving as the leadoff hitter. Bessey who is a two-sport athlete also competing for the national champion women's basketball team, batted .357 this season, scoring 8 runs. She only struck out 3 times in 40 plate appearances, while collecting 14 hits in 12 games.

Freshman pitcher, Megan Theriault (Lewiston, Maine), who carried the load for the Mustangs this season, started every game in the circle. Theriault pitched over 50 innings this season for the Mustangs collecting 31 strikeouts, and averaging 4.41 strikeouts per game. Theriault also served as the Mustangs #3 batter, hitting .324 – recording 11 hits in 12 games.

Head Softball Coach, Bruce Robertson, stated, "It was a pleasure coaching these two great athletes this past season. Alex who served as our leadoff hitter for two years seemed to get on base every game while being solid at shortstop. She will be missed as she moves on from CM. Theriualt was expected to be our workhorse for the season on the mound and she took it in stride. She started every game for us in the circle and threw until she could not throw anymore. It will be great to have Megan back next season while we bring in relief for her in our incoming recruiting class."
