Lady Mustangs stampede through season opener

Auburn, ME - It did not take long for the Lady Mustangs to figure things out in the season opener. A relentless full court attack led to a 24-7 first quarter lead, and CM was just getting started. Outscoring UNB Saint John by 20 points in the 3rd quarter, behind a 36 point team effort, the Mustangs cruised to the 84-37 win.

Jordyn Reynolds (Poland, ME) was dominant from start to finish. In just 21 minutes, Reynolds tallied a game-high 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 steals while shooting 8 for 9 (88.8%) from the field. Natalie Thurber (Wells, ME) connected on 5 of 7 3FG's, all in the 3rd quarter to finish with 15 points. Alex Bessey (Jay, ME) dished out a game-high 6 assists to go along with 7 points.

Kathryn Magee led the visitors with 14 points on 4 of 12 shooting.

In all, all 13 Mustangs who suited up for the game played at least 9-minutes, with 11 of them finding the scoring column. They forced 39 turnovers, coming away with 25 steal, and assisting in 25 of their 33 field goals.

With the win CM improves to 1-0 on the year, and will be back in action tomorrow, Sunday, October 28th, at 4:00pm against Champlain - St. Lawrence in the final game of the Can-Am Tournament.
