Women's Basketball advances to 3rd straight USCAA National Championship Game with win over Lehigh Valley

Uniontown, PA - The second quarter spelt certain doom for the Lady Mustangs. They shot just 17% from the floor, committed 14 turnovers, and All-American, Jordyn Reynolds, only played 3-minutes due to foul trouble. The recipe of defeat has presented itself as the Mustangs went into the locker room down 30-21.

Luckily, the Lady Mustangs snapped out of it early in the 3rd quarter, evening the score with Lehigh Valley, 42-42 at the end of quarter. Rebecca Davila (El Paso, TX) for the Mustangs going in the second half, hitting for a career-high 21 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Brooke Reynolds (Poland, ME) recorded her forth straight double-double, with 14 points, 15 rebounds, and 3 steals.

The gritty defense of the Mustangs held Penn State Lehigh Valley to just 7 second half field goals and only one made 3-pointer the entire game. Much of their focus was stopping 1st Team All-American, Ebony Sanders in the paint. J. Reynolds, although only scoring 2 points, blocked Sanders 4-times in the second half, frustrating the standout center, leading her to fouling out of the game with 4-minutes to go.

With the win the Lady Mustangs improve to 27-2 overall and advance to their 3rd straight USCAA National Championship Game. They will take on #1 Villa Maria College (Buffalo, NY) at 2:00pm. The Vikings have not lost since November 4th, and carry a 24-game win streak into the title game.
