Women's Basketball dominant in first game back from Thanksgiving break

Albany, NY - It took just 22-seconds for the Mustangs to gain their first lead of the game, one they would not surrender, in a 96-39 rout of Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences. The Panthers stood no chance against the onslaught of pressure defense and unrelenting tempo. Even without stalwarts, Ahna McCusker and Natalie Thurber, the Lady Mustangs poured it on, including 28 first quarter points, and 51 first half points.

Alex Bessey (Jay, ME) got the Mustangs on the board first, as she connected on 8 points in the first quarter. She finished with 13 points on 5 of 9 shooting in just 18-minutes of action. Brooke Reynolds (Poland, ME) collected a double-double with 12 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals. Kristen Huntress (Harrison, ME) connected on 3 of 4 deep balls, and finished with 11 points. Starting just her second career game, Rebecca Davila (El Paso, TX) tallied 10 points, 7 assists, and 4 steals. Elena Tool (Tilburg, Netherlands) was the fifth Lady Mustangs ni double-figures scoring 10 points and grabbing 6 rebounds.

Of the 12 Lady Mustangs who made the weekend trip, all scored at least 3 points. Jordyn Reynolds (Poland, ME), Patricia Vazquez Diaz (Tenerife, Spain), and Kasie Maloney (Concord, NH) scored 8 points a piece. Reynolds recorded 10 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 assists, and 3 blocks, whole Vazquez Diaz pulled down 8 rebounds.

Overall CM dished out 30 assists which led to a 52% field goal percentage for the game. They also had a +25 rebounding advantage and 22 steals.

Emma Webster led the Panthers with 12 points.

With the win the Lady Mustangs improve to 8-1 on the season and will travel to Amherst, MA tomorrow to take on Hampshire College at 1:00pm in a YSCC match-up.
