Biron tabbed CMCC Male-Athlete of the Year

Auburn, ME - After graduating from Poland Regional High School in 2015, Alex Biron came to CMCC and earned an associate's degree with honors in Building Construction last year. He chose to come back to CM for another year and will graduate this spring with a certificate in Business Administration.

He carries a GPA of 3.44 in the classroom and is involved in two sports at the college. He has captained the baseball team for the past two years and led the squad to the 2016 Yankee Conference Fall Championship.  As a first baseman, he has hit .405 with 8 home runs, and 44 RBI.  If that offensive output isn't enough, Alex is also one of the team's top pitchers. A Yankee Conference All Conference player in 2016, Alex has played more baseball games at CM than any other player. During the winter, he has served as the statistician for the women and men's basketball teams.

An excellent student, Alex is described this way by one of his instructors: He has strong leadership skills and will excel at anything he puts his mind to. He is academically strong, energetic, and will be an asset to any employer."

When not studying or hitting the ball on the diamond, Alex works 50 plus hours per week as a certified EMT/firefighter with the Poland and United rescue units.

Athletic Director Dave Gonyea said: "Alex is truly committed to his craft. He is not only a great hitter but a role model for how to be a college athlete.  He is what every CM athlete should strive to become."

For Alex's remarkable achievements in the classroom and on the diamond, we are proud to name him the Male Student Athlete of the Year.
