As the Lady Mustangs begin second semester action this weekend, they will be welcoming two new, yet familiar, faces to their roster. Erica Brochu, a Lewiston High School grad, and Ashlee Arnold, of Edward Little High School, will help the Lady Mustangs build upon their first semester momentum as they make their playoff push.
Brochu, a 6'1" center, will add some much needed depth in the post for the Lady Mustangs.
"We've very excited that Erica will be joining us for second semester. Erica is a very hard worker and will provide depth in an area in which we really needed it." said women's basketball head coach, Andrew Morong.
Arnold, a guard, was a 1,000 point scorer at Edward Little High School right here in Auburn and a semi-finalist for Ms. Maine Basketball.
"Offensively, Ashlee is a threat from just about anywhere. She can extend the defense with three-point shooting ability and has always been able to find a way to score. In high school, she always had everyone's best defender on her, and teams always tried to game-plan for her, and she still found ways to put significant points on the board." said Morong.
Morong continued, "Both of these young women have a lot to learn and will need to make the same adjustments all of our players did months ago. Everyone is bigger, faster, and stronger at this level so it takes some time figuring it all out. Our goal is to get each of them right where we need them about a week before tournament time. Once they have made their adjustments, they should fit in seamlessly and will help us take the necessary steps as we challenge for another conference title."
The Lady Mustangs are back in action this weekend with a home double-header. On Saturday, CM will host the College of St. Joseph's (VT). The Lady Mustangs defeated the Fighting Saints, 91-49, on November 16th. On Sunday, CM hosts nationally ranked (#19) NJCAA DII-member, Dean College. Last year, the Bulldogs defeated the Lady Mustangs, 74-60, in Franklin, MA.
