Valorant

The Valorant team had a busy week. After taking a forfeit win from Post University to close out ECAC Division C play with a 5-2 overall record. The defending champions go into the playoffs as the #10 seed in a 20-team bracket hoping to retain their title.

They used the extra time for practice ahead of their trip to Husson University in Bangor, ME to compete in the Husson Campus Series LAN event. Five teams (CMCC, Husson, USM, Molloy, and Pittsburgh-Johnstown) competed for a $1,500 prize pool. On Friday, the Mustangs played every team once in a best-of-three for group play, going 3-1 with their only loss to the host Eagles. That got them the #3 seed for Saturday's double-elimination bracket. Central Maine started with a rematch against Husson, beating them 2-1 to secure a top-three finish. In winner's finals they faced Pittsburgh-Johnstown, falling to the Mountain Cats 2-0. They still had a chance to reach the Grand Final, moving over to the loser's bracket for yet another match with the hosts. Husson prevailed this time 2-1 with a 13-10 win on the final map. CMCC rounded out the event with a third place finish with ECAC playoffs on the horizon.

The Mustangs won their group and will be the #3 overall seed in the Call of Duty Black Ops 6 bracket behind Fisher College and Texas A&M International.

Central Maine had the week off in College COD League and CXP. The Mustangs play for the CCL conference championship this week as the #8 ranked team in the country, against Fisher. They'll also return to play in the next CXP major next week after all four players travel to Texas to compete in CDL Major 2, a top-ranked amateur tournament this weekend.
