Mustangs Esports Fall '24 - Week #3 Recap

Monday, October 7th

eNASCAR College iRacing Series

Griffin "Salad" Nichols qualified for the C-Main race in the second round of the eNASCAR College iRacing Series. The season's second event was on Lucas Oil Raceway Park where Griffin came home 11th after qualifying 12th in the 40-car field. He spent most of the early stage caught up in traffic, but improved his lap times over the day and was happy with the result in the end.

EA Sports FC


Fabrice Mvula took a forfeit win over Thomas College. The CMCC spring EA FC 2024 champion moves to 1-1 on the season.

APEX Legends

The APEX Legends team of Cody "Codbreaker44" Malpass, Mars "Celentix" McBey, and Brandon "Chilly" Newton played their third matches of pool play against nineteen other schools. Their best result was a second place against the lobby in game two.

Tuesday, October 8th

Valorant

The Valorant team swept Catawba University 2-0. The squad of Owen "Glakknar" Brousseau, Kason "MARAUDER" Dalton, Brayden "Bumble" Hiltz, Lillianna "beanz" Noel, and Caden "Asylum" Bedney took a 13-0 win in the second game against the school that produced the ECAC Esports Director of the Year award winner last year. They remain undefeated at 3-0.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate

Beat Marion Tech College 2-0. The team of Jayden "Inari" Feliberty, Richard "OneStock" Johnson, Jade "21_weed__eater" Fortenbacker, and Garrett "Orkiwan" Davis is now 2-1 in their round robin. They took both the first and second map by scores of 12-6.

Wednesday, October 9th

Rocket League

The Rocket League team of Eli "Lamp Post" Rogers, Barrett "Barrett" Walker, and Bryan "Gelo" Wiers defeated Penn State-Behrend 4-1 in the five match contest, taking map one 2-1, map two 2-0, map four 3-1, and map five 3-0. They are now 1-1 on the season

Thursday, October 10th

Overwatch 2

The Overwatch 2 team of Tristan "Mr. Brightside" Bannister, Jamie "Cornflakes" Cole, Leticionna "Lady Rein" Dalton, Destiny "Neon" Davis, and Ethan "ethan" Deneau suffered their first defeat of the year dropping them to 1-1. They played the Siena College B-Team, losing 1-3 in four very close games that could have gone either way. Game one was a 1-2 loss , game two was 3-4, game three was a 1-0 win, and game four was 1-3.

Madden 2025

Joseph "Babyjoe60" Langley played Southern Mississippi, losing both games by less than a touchdown. The defeat drops him to 1-2 on the season heading into week four.

Friday, October 11th

League of Legends

The five-player League of Legends team of Owen "Glakknar" Brousseau, Brody "Akir" Edwards, Luisa "Luu" Serrano, Jireh "Azurest" Walden, and Aidan "Icy" Poitras suffered their first defeat of the year at the hands of the also unbeaten squad from the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. The LoL team is now 2-1 on the season.

Call of Duty

The four-man squad of Caden "Asylum" Bedney, James "captainjames2005" Bergstrom, Ethan "EthanCOD" Deneau, and Chalmers "FancyReaper" Russell lost to an undefeated Florida Atlantic University team 1-3. Map one was Hardpoint which FAU took 250-150. Map two was Search and Destroy which the Mustangs won 6-1. Map three was Control with a 2-3 loss to the Owls and game four was Hardpoint which CMCC lost 152-250. The COD team is now 1-2 on the season in the Group B Swiss, placing them 14th in the standings.

Mustangs Esports is on a quest to win 60 matches this year to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Central Maine Community College. The 4-4 record in week three brings the program to 12-9 on the season. All teams are still poised to make the playoffs in their respective divisions and titles.
