Valorant

Defeated Edgewood College out of Madison, WI (the hometown of CMCC Esports' Caden Bedney). There was controversy with Edgewood not having updated their gamer tags ahead of the match deadline, interfering with CMCC's ability to scout their opponent.

ECAC rulings caused them to forfeit map #1, as the Mustangs chose to give them time to update their information and play them in map #2. That game was on sunset and CMCC struggled out of the gate losing the first four rounds of the first half before rallying back to lead 7-5. They lost four of the first five rounds in the second half, but recovered to win the game 13-10 and the match 2-0. The #2 seed Mustangs play the University of Kentucky on Tuesday.

Rocket League

The team of Eli "Lamp Post" Rogers, Barrett "Barrett" Walker, and Bryan "Gelo" Wiers lost their regular season finale, dropping the best-of-seven against Northeast Wisconsin Technical College 4-3 on the last map. They end their season with a 3-4 record, just missing out on ECAC playoffs. It was still a good start for the all-freshman team in their first semester.

Overwatch 2

The Overwatch 2 team of Tristan "Mr. Brightside" Bannister, Jamie "Cornflakes" Cole, Leticionna "Lady Rein" Dalton, Ethan "ethan" Deneau, and Nolan "Galaxy Kid" Kay fell in ECAC playoff action to the Saint Leo University Lions, 3-1. They had a bit of a hectic season with multiple players having to sub in at different times, but with some support from the team and alumni they had a successful season. Esports Coordinator Andrew Garza says it showed that Overwatch 2 is not a dying game in our community.

Charity Match vs USM

Over the weekend, CMCC took on the University of Southern Maine in a charity event to support Make-A-Wish Maine. The Mustangs and Huskies went head-to-head in Overwatch 2 and Valorant. Central Maine won in Overwatch play 3-0 before the Valorant team fell 0-2 playing with a substitute.

Both schools used this as an opportunity to showcase their teams for the upcoming semester, with several new recruits and prospects playing in the matches. The event raised $160 over the course of the two-hour stream.

"The charity match was a good demonstration of the strong relationship CMCC and USM have, as well as with the teams throughout the state," said Garza. "Both CMCC Esports and USM continue to work hard on establishing an Esports conference in the state of Maine."

Mustangs Esports is on a quest to win 60 matches this year to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Central Maine Community College. This first week of the ECAC postseason brings the program's total record to 34-24 with one team, Valorant, still in the playoffs.
