Softball continues to load up for 2020

Auburn, ME - Head Softball Coach, Bruce Robertson, is pleased to announce Emily Sanfacon from Lebanon, ME and student of Noble High School has committed to attend and play softball for the Mustangs in 2020.

Emily stated, "When touring CM, it checked everything of my list that I was looking for in a college. I like how everything is close and how everyone made me feel welcome. I loved the softball program, the team atmosphere, and especially the new turf field. CM allows me to get a great education at an affordable price."

On her commitment to play softball at Central Maine, Emily added, "It has always been a dream of mine to play softball in college and CM is the perfect fit for me. I am excited to see what the game will bring at the college level. I am expecting it to be more intense and competitive which is something I am looking forward to. I will bring my positive vibes and a 110% attitude to help my new team succeed!"

Noble High School Coach, Rick Melanson, commented, "We did not have a catcher for the 2019 season due to graduation, players deciding not to play, and injuries. I asked several players to catch. Emily replied... 'If you want me to catch and if you think it will make us a better team, I will do it.' She had never caught before! This speaks volumes of the type of player Emily is. Her attitude is one of the best. She loves softball and her teammates love her. You do not win 15 of 18 games if you do not have a great catcher especially in the SMAA. She has a very strong, accurate throwing arm. Emily batted .241 BA .397 OBP. The Pitchers ERA was 1.89 when she caught which was every game while throwing out 5 of 10 baserunners. She did hit 100 points less this past year compared to her sophomore year.  I believe this was due to her catching for the first time."

Coach Robertson added, "We are thrilled Emily has decided to join us at CM. She is a top-notch player that has been playing year-round softball for many years. We feel Emily will help make an impact on the team right away with her drive and passion for the game. After seeing and meeting Emily last summer at a tournament, our goal was to get Emily to CM for a tour. After she toured and we had a chance to talk to her more my goal was to get her to commit to CM! Emily has a great attitude and the flexibility of her playing multiple positions will make her an asset for us. Emily is the epidemy of a team-first teammate."

Sanfacon, who was a High Honor and National Honor Society student at Noble High School, also served on the student council and as class officer. She also found time to obtain her CNA Certification. Emily also competed in Indoor track & Field for the Knights.

Emily will be enrolled in the General Studies Pre-Nursing program at CM.
