Softball adds depth to 2020 class

Auburn, ME – Central Maine Mustangs Softball, is pleased to announce they have landed their next commitment for the 2020 season. Deanna Bauer (Wales, ME), from Oak Hill High School has committed to play for the Mustangs in the fall of 2020.

After touring CM Deanna stated, "I chose CM because I honestly was looking at a smaller school to continue my education while wanting to advance my softball career. This made CM the best fit for me. The campus has the class sizes I am comfortable with while being easy to navigate. Plus, it offers the program of study I am looking at."

Oak Hill Softball Coach, Allyson Collins, commented, "Deanna had a great attitude and was willing to do whatever I asked her to do. She moved very well in the outfield, as she was quick on her feet. She played right field for us last year and typically hit in the 6-spot. She had a tendency to come up big when we needed her most, while also drawing a lot of walks. I only coached her for one season because she transferred in from Monmouth Academy, but I would have loved to have had her for her entire career. Her Junior year Deanna had a .378 batting Ave., an OBP of .511, with 17 RBI's, and 11-stolen bases."

According to Mustangs head coach, Bruce Robertson, "We are very pleased that Deanna has decided to come to CM. We have watched her play for the past couple years in both high school and summer, and she has improved her game while displaying a great attitude. She has the team first attitude which makes her a perfect fit as a Mustang. Deanna has been putting in the extra time at CM by attending our strength and conditioning days. This has given her time to get to know the workouts as well as the returning players and given us the opportunity to see what her commitment level is."

On her commitment to Central Maine, Deanna added, "I feel the biggest thing is playing with more knowledgeable players. Every player is or was a high school's team top player and I feel that will help push me to improve my game. I feel I can bring high energy in the dugout and my confidence on the field. I am excited to start the next chapter in my softball career."

Deanna will be enrolling in Precision Machining Technology program at CM.
