Mustangs Split on the Road

Auburn, ME - In game one of a twin bill,  Mike Muise and Matthew Tremble's efforts were not enough as Central Maine dropped a 5-1 loss decsion to NHTI.

Muise was solid at the plate for Mustangs. He went 2-4 and drove in one run. He also doubled in the first inning and singled in the third inning. Matthew Tremble also singled and doubled for the Mustangs.

The Mustangs couldn't seem to find a clutch hit with runners in scoring position. They left 5 runners on base in the first two innings.

"If we could have just found one or two more hits in those first two innings it could have changed the whole complexity of that game" said Coach Yates

Kyle Lyndes recorded the win for NHTI. He allowed one run over seven innings. He struck out two, walked three and surrendered seven hits.

Alex Biron was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 3 2/3 innings, walked four, struck out four, and allowed five runs.

NHTI brought home one run in the second inning, and matched that run total in the third inning. In the second frame, NHTI scored on an error, plating Jacob Tetley.

NHTI plated another run on a solo home run by Chriss Gauss in the third inning.

The Lynx built upon its lead with two runs in the fourth inning. A bases loaded walk scored Steve Moran to start the scoring in the inning.

In game two, the Mustangs second inning rally sparked a rout.

Central Maine jumped out to an early lead and captured a 12-1 victory.

Matthew Tremble continued his hitting from the first game by belting a home run in the first inning to get the Mustangs going. After that Central Maine never looked back. With 10 runs in the first three innings, the Mustangs left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

Matthew Tremble reached base three times in the game for the visitors. He scored two runs and had one RBI.

Kyle Moore kept contact to a minimum, striking out five NHTI batters. Moore allowed no earned runs, six hits and no walks over five innings to capture the win.

"He pounded the zone, didn't walk anyone, and kept the hitters off balance. That's the key for any pitcher to have success. We are very pleased in Kyle's performance today" said Coach Yates.

Mike Simard took the loss for NHTI. He allowed seven runs in 1 1/3 innings, walked four and struck out none.

The Mustangs brought home two runs in the third inning, and matched that run total in the fourth. In the third, Central Maine scored on a groundout by Varney, scoring Trent Spaulding.
