2016-17 Mustangs Season Wrap-up

In 2016, we had a very successful summer recruiting some very good players and it showed in our fall season. We were 8–3–1 and won the YSCC fall championship. We had some outstanding performances from our players including Evan Roberts on the mound and Mike Muise at the plate. Adding in our stellar defense, turning seven double plays in the championship game, we were able to end on top.

For the spring we started out behind with our two and three pitchers being injured as well as losing a few key hitters. Our team battled and showed heart but in the end, we were unable to repeat our fall success. We had every opportunity to win each game and it usually came down to the last inning, even the last out on a few, but missing a clutch hit here and there or having a few less arms hurt. Our spring season also saw three First Team All-Tournament Team Awards going to CM players; Alex Biron – leadoff batter and first baseman, Evan Roberts – starting pitcher, and Kyle Moore – three batter and third baseman.

Our goal is to stack up on pitching and to add a few more power bats to the lineup for next season. With already having, a few key recruits committing to play next season things are looking up for another good fall season. Our team is looking forward to what we can do in the future and letting the memory of the past fuel our motivation for the upcoming fall season. We hope we can bring many more championships to Central Maine in the future and bring our baseball team to the top!
