Mustangs grab Game 1 of Double-Header

Auburn, ME - Central Maine Mustangs and NHTI volleyed the lead seven times on Sunday, but the Mustangs came out on top with a 4-3 win.

Central Maine finally managed to grab the lead after a strong fifth inning. A wild pitch scored Matthew Turner to give Central Maine the lead for good. Mike Muise was perfect at the dish, going 3-3. He singled in the first, third, and fifth innings.

Nick Bagley got the win for the Mustangs. He allowed three runs over six innings. Bagley struck out nine, walked none and gave up nine hits. Zach Poisson couldn't get it done on the hill for NHTI, taking a loss. He lasted six innings, walked one, struck out five, and allowed four runs.

The top of the first saw NHTI take an early lead, 1-0. The Lynx got things going when Mike Simard doubled. An error then moved Simard from second to third. Simard then stole home. Central Maine scored one run of its own in the first, on an RBI single by Muise.

NHTI pushed across one run in both the second inning and the fourth. In the second, the Lynx scored on an RBI single by Steve Moran, plating Bryce Twombly. Central Maine quickly matched NHTI's strong inning with a one-run inning of its own in the second. Central Maine scored on an error.

The fifth spelled defeat for NHTI, as the Mustangs grabbed the lead for good.
