Baseball with Win & Tie in Double-Header Action

South Portland, ME - In a beautiful day at SMCC, the Mustangs took on the SeaWolves in fall baseball action. Evan Roberts nine strong innings to contain the home team and the Mustangs solid defense propels them past the Sea Wolves by a 1-0 score.

Roberts looked sharp on the bump. SMCC managed just three hits off of him, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out five during his nine innings of work.

Kyle Moore helped Central Maine pull ahead for the duration in the ninth inning. With the game scoreless in the ninth inning a Sea Wolf error scored Bryce Walker.

For SMCC, T Kruse ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just five innings, walked one, struck out five, and allowed one run.

Kyle Moore was solid at the plate for the Mustangs going 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the fifth and seventh innings.

In Game two action:

Nick Bagley pitched 5 1/3 innings for the Mustangs allowing three runs, one walk, and striking out five leading CM to a 3-3 tie called after nine innings due to darkness. Mike Muise came in to finish the game pitching 2 2/3 allowing no runs, two hits, and once walk.

In the top of the first, Central Maine grabbed the early lead, 1-0. A single by Austin Wing, bringing home Matthew Tremble started the inning off.

It didn't take long for SMCC to answer as it scored one run of its own in the first. SMCC scored on an RBI double by Caleb Chambers.

SMCC got one-run rallies in the third inning and the Fifth. In the third, SMCC scored on a sacrifice fly by Chambers, scoring T Lee.

CM improves its fall record to 2-1-1.
