Auburn, ME - Carrington Miller (Bingham, ME) led a second half comeback netting 17 points and dominating the boards with 22 rebounds as CM roared back from a 14-point halftime deficit to nip the Lions of Penn State Greater Allegheny, 73-70, in Auburn this afternoon.
This was the third game in four days for the Mustangs and it showed. A lifeless first half resulted in CM shooting 30% from the floor and 2-15 from beyond the arc. The Mustangs went into the locker room behind by 14 points, 45-31, at the half.
After halftime, CM came to life running and wearing down the visiting Lions. A 14-6 run in the opening minutes reduced the lead to 8 points. A Lions timeout didn't stem the tide and CM poured it on jumping in front by 4 points with 9 minutes left in the game.
An Elijah Barbour (Reston, VA) three with 2:35 left put CM up 65-62. Costly turnovers at game's end cost the Lions who had to foul. CM sent three different Mustangs to the free throw line with 1-and-1 opportunities the last minute and came up empty each time!
The Mustangs were able to hang on and come out with a hard fought 73-70 victory. The win increases CM to 5-1 overall.
Rob Skinner (Winsted, CN) added 16 points with 12 rebounds and 6 assists.
CM faces the College of St Joe's this Wednesday at 7pm in a non-conference matchup.
