NHTI blanks Mustangs

Concord, NH - The Lady Mustangs traveled to Concord, NHTI to take on top-ranked NHTI, and although Central Maine lost, it was the most competitive game they have ever played against the perennial conference favorite.  Although the Lynx controlled play throughout most of the game it wasn't until the 30 minute mark of the first half that they got on the scoreboard on a goal by Maura Hart.  That would turn out to be the only score of a half that ended with NHTI up 1-0.

For most of the second half, the Lady Mustangs were able to keep themselves in the game on the strength of their defensive unit of Keara Hunter, Emily Rubino, Cheyenne Gray, and Aimee Horne.   The score remained at 1-0 throughout most of the second half until Hart netted her second goal with twelve minutes remaining.  Hart would get one more less than a minute later to put the Lynx up 3-0 and NHTI finished the scoring on a goal by Lexy Freire with two minutes left to play.  Mustang goalkeeper Ali Sult played an excellent making 16 saves off 30 total shots (20 shots on goal) by NHTI.

Central Maine has a two-week layoff before they are back in action with a conference game on the road in New York at Paul Smith's College.
