Auburn, ME - The Central Maine Mustangs Women's Soccer team is pleased to announce the commitment of Lisbon High School senior Savannah Fisher. Fisher is an extremely versatile player with experience as a midfielder, defender, and can even play as a goalkeeper when needed. Head Women's Soccer Coach, Rob Rodriguez, commented, "Savannah is a very recent addition to our incoming recruits, she can make an impact from any position on the field. Her ability to carry the ball out of the back makes her a very valuable addition to our team."

Savannah comes very highly recommended by Lisbon High School coach, Jennifer Perron, who gave a lot of high praise for the Mustangs new addition. "Savannah is a terrific player who is fierce and focused and was a tremendous asset to my defense this past season. For the first half of the season she played fullback and was unstoppable, letting nothing get by her, consistently stopping our opponents from penetrating our backfield. She has good ball handling skills and is quite quick and agile. As a fullback she was very efficient in stealing the ball from the opponent and would run the ball up the field. She is a true team player with a big heart and a deep love for the game. Halfway through the season, I made a keeper change and she did not disappoint, stepping up to the demands and facing the challenge of being the goalkeeper without hesitation. She is easily coached and is always striving to better her game.    Savannah will be a true asset to the Mustangs."

According to Coach Rodriguez, "the plan is to use Savannah as both a defender and a midfielder on the inside and outside because her skill set translates to a number of different positions and since we are already in the habit of cross training our players to be used all over the field, she should excel in our playing system." 

On her commitment to CM, Savannah commented, "I've heard so many great things about this college and how welcoming the people are. It is a beautiful campus and close to home so I am looking forward to seeing some familiar faces. Playing college soccer will be a lot different from high school because there is more dedication and hard work from the players and they take it more seriously. I am excited to show my new teammates and coaches what I'm capable of and I feel I can bring a lot of dedication and hard work to the team, working together as a family."   

Savannah will be studying in the General Studies with hopes of being admitted into the nursing program.
