Auburn, ME - Head Women's Soccer Coach, Rob Rodriguez, is pleased to announce the commitment of center back, Marah Hall from 2017 Class C State Runner-Up, Madison Area Memorial High School. Hall is a high honors student at MAMHS and will study Life Sciences at CM.
According to Coach Rodriguez, "Marah will add more strength to what was already a good defensive unit. She is a physically strong and vocal defender with good speed. I watched her play twice this past season and in both games she won the battles against the other team's best forwards and she did so while holding her position very well. She was very calm under pressure which was something that I really liked. Her addition to the back line will give us more flexibility in running multiple formations which will allow us to present very different defensive schemes to our opponents."
Marah has been a three-year starter for a very good Madison team and co-coaches Mike Walsh and Erin Wood both had high praise for her. Coach Walsh commented that, "Marah has an excellent sense of where to be to provide the best support. She is aggressive, not afraid of physical contact, and provided vocal leadership to her defensive partners."
Coach Wood added, "I have coached Marah through all levels from recreation to junior high to high school and have watched her make great gains as a soccer player and as an athlete. It's exciting to see her continue that to play at the next level."
When asked about her choice of CM and what she liked the most about the college, Marah said, "I decided to choose CMCC because I like the size of the campus, the surrounding area, and the campus life. It's just minutes away from in-town Auburn, which is very convenient and it's not too far from home. The teachers seemed very friendly and helpful and so did the students, they all made me feel very welcome and at home when I visited. I am looking forward to starting a new chapter in my life, becoming more independent while moving away to college and living on my own, along with continuing my soccer career at the college level and becoming part of the Mustang Family."
As the Mustangs continue to build on their successful 2017 season, Marah was asked what she feels she can bring to the team in 2018, "I think that I am a strong defensive player, have worked really hard at it and have fallen in love with that position. I am a very energetic, outgoing, happy person so I think I will be able to bring positive energy and encouragement to the team and even though I was not a captain on my high school team, I was still a leader on the field and I think that I would be bringing that with me."
