Auburn, ME - Skyler Henry, a senior goalkeeper from Waterford High School in Connecticut has committed to play at Central Maine.  Henry will study in the Physical Fitness Specialist program while at CM.

Head women's Soccer Coach, Rob Rodriguez said, "Skyler first showed up on our radar back in early-fall of 2016 when she was a junior.  After watching her play in the goal and on the field, it was that her athleticism would fit our needs very well.  I saw her play again this past season in a playoff game and her development in just one year was tremendous.  She is a vocal leader with a commanding presence in the net giving very specific instructions to her defense."  

Waterford High School Girls Varsity Soccer Coach, Chris Ghiglia commented, "Skyler is a wonderful young adult, mature beyond her years.  She was an excellent teammate and really did great this year helping to welcome a large incoming freshmen class to our program.  On the field her goalkeeping ability kept improving and what impressed me the most was that she never let a mistake get her down, always following it up with a strong performance.  That type of mental toughness is so key to being a good goalkeeper."

Over the two years she was being recruited, Skyler visited the CM campus four or five times and she chose Central Maine over other schools who were recruiting her.  According to Henry, "I loved the family atmosphere between the students and teachers, along with the uniqueness of the classrooms and how they are designed to specifically help students learn.  It takes a special type of person to take what they love doing to the next level, it is a more intense and competitive atmosphere and I am excited to be a part of it.  I am most looking forward to learning how to become a better athlete and student while attending CM and I hope to bring a strong presence to the field and help build on what the team is already creating."
