Mustangs add midfielder to recruiting class

Auburn, ME - Head Women's Soccer Coach, Rob Rodriguez, is pleased to announce the commitment of Cassidy Hart, from Buckfield Jr/Sr High School.  Hart will study in the Education program at CM and will be reuniting with former teammate, sophomore Abby Fogg, and fellow incoming recruit, Thea Quick, as part of the Mustangs lineup.

Buckfield High School coach Larry Thornton was pleased to hear she was planning to play at Central Maine and commented, "Cassidy is a very well-conditioned, physical, and tough competitor. She is versatile in her ability to play as an outside mid or an outside defender. When she began to play varsity she immediately became a presence in the starting line-up and was named captain in her senior year, helping to lead the Lady Bucks to a playoff appearance. Cassidy is a tireless worker who will bring a great deal of spirit to the Mustangs program and should fit in nicely with the college game."

Hart on why she chose Central Maine, "I have heard great things about the college and it allows me to be close to home. I like that it is a relatively small campus, which makes it an easier adjustment coming from a small high school like Buckfield. I am looking forward to taking my game to the next level, getting to know more people, and getting close to my teammates. I think I can bring positivity and a strong work ethic, and I always try to do my best in games and practices."

According to Coach Rodriguez, "Cassidy's ability to play as both a mid and a defender will be a big plus for us. We use multiple formations and styles so moving players around and being able to give our opponents different looks makes us a difficult team to prepare for.  While watching her play last fall Cassidy was battling very aggressively on the outside of the field against a powerful Richmond team.   She was consistently winning the ball against bigger players, disrupting their attack, and she played with no fear, which I really liked."

The Mustangs open their 2018 season on the road at UMaine Machias on August 31.
