Mustangs Open up With Tie

Auburn, ME - The central Maine Men's Soccer team their regular season with a 3-3 draw vs #17 ranked Massacoit.  On a sweltering day on the Auburn turf both teams started with intensity, that carried forward throughout the game. 

The Mustangs would take the lead with 17:25 gone. A through ball by Isidoro Domingues found the fast-paced David Nzuzzi. Nzuzzi dribbled from the right wing centrally into the box. As the keeper rushed out, he passed the ball to the open Ivan Domingues who calmly passed the ball into the open net. 

With 10 mins late in the half, a careless pass by the CM midfielder Ordi Bimvy was intercepted by Massasoit. Mendes found himself in the box and coolly lobbed the ball past the outrushing Cloutier. The half would play out ending 1-1.

Bimvy would make amends for his mistake in the 53rd minute, as he intercepted a pass by the Massasoit defense. Bimvy showed great quality on the ball, dribbling through the heart of the defense before skillfully dribbling pass the goalkeeper and slotting the ball into the now open net. This goal gave the Mustangs the 2-1 lead.

Massasoit would draw level off of a freekick by Kevin Barbosa. His shot from the left edge of the 18-yard box curled into the top left corner evading Nyagasazas despairing dive. Massasoit took the lead on a 69th penalty kick Angelot Jerome dispatched a well struck shot past Nyagasaza. 

Despite the heat, the Mustangs showed great resilience to score the tying goal with less than 4 minutes left on the clock. Igor Domingues dribbled in from the right, committing a defender before passing to brother Ivan. Ivan still had plenty to do, calmy faking 2 defenders before shooting hard to the left of the goalkeeper's dive.

The CM men's soccer team returns to action in an Exhibition game vs Husson on Thursday night before hitting the road to play New England Community College.
