Men's Soccer dominates Knights in Vermont

Randolph Center, VT - The Mustangs continued their winning streak with a convincing 7-0 win. This first conference win of the season extended their winning streak to 4 on the road.

The Knights started the first half well, looking to keep players behind the ball on the defensive end and quickly counterattack. In typical fashion, the Mustangs maintained the bulk of possession but lacked that clinical edge in front of goal.

11:48 in the first half, Igor Domingues continued his fine goal scoring form of late. Igor picked up a poor clearance by the Knights defense, playing the ball forward to David Nzuzzi who in return played a perfect through ball around the corner for Igor to run on to. Igor poked the ball to the right of the outrushing Knights keeper Shane Mapes  to give the Mustangs the go-ahead lead.

Domingues would double the Mustangs lead on 20:32 when he pounced on a rebound save by Mapes off of a Moses Lumu free kick. With his second of the game Igor moved to 7 goals for the season. Despite their possession dominance the Mustangs failed to add to the score in the first half.

Jeremiah Gomez would get on the score sheet with just under 7 mins of the second half gone. A poor goal kick was picked up by Nzuzi who played a pass to the right edge of the 18 yard box to Gomez. Jeremiah opened his body cutting inside a second defender and finishing hard and low to the right of Mapes dive, bringing the score to 3-0.

Ivan Domingues finished a penalty kick to the bottom right corner on minute 63:19. Ordy Bimvy earned the penalty for the Mustangs as he dribbled into the box drawing contact from a Knights defender.

With 79:05 showing on the clock Ivan would score his brace. A deep cross from Nzuzi found Domingues, who controlled the ball out of the air before turning and hitting a ferocious shot to the right side of the goal. This shot would mark Ivans 11th goal of the season, and Nzuzis 7th assist.

Ivan would turn provider for the Mustangs 6th goal of the game with 4:22 left to play. The ball was initially won by Abdilahi deep in the Mustangs defensive third. An 8 pass move that involved, Nzuzi, Bimvy, Violette and Domingues resulted in Ivan crossing the ball to back post were Moses Lumu made good use of his 6 ft 4 inch frame to finish with a header to the open net.

Not to be outdone by his brother Isidoro Domingues would finish the scoring for the Mustangs with 17 seconds left on the clock wIth what was the best team goal of the game. Bashford received a pass from Lumu driving forward to initiate the attack. 14 passes later the ball was cut back from Igor Domingues to Violette, with Justin providing a slight redirection to the open Isidoro to slam the ball into the net at the back post.

With the win the Mustangs moved to 4-0-1 for the season and 1-0 in conference play. The Knights fell to 3-3 for the season and 1-1 in conference play. Up next for the Mustangs this Thursday is another road game in a non-conference game vs SMCC.
