Late Eagles Comeback Stops Mustangs

Bangor, ME-  CM traveled to D3 NAC power house Husson College Tuesday.

The game started brightly for the Mustangs who experimented with a new formation to counter the offensive threat of the Eagles. With 8:30 left in the first half Zoubeyr Abdilahi would tally his first goal of the season. Alfie Bashford drove a diagonal freekick onto the penalty spot of the Husson Eagles. The defense were not able to clear the ball, with Justin Violette heading the ball back in front of the goal, where Abdilahi rose to head into the goal.

With barely 1 minute gone in the 2nd half the Mustangs would double their lead as Nzuzi tallied his second assist in 2 games. Cutting in from the right wing he sent a cross to the back post where Christ Dushime sprinted into space before skillfully volleying the ball over the Eagles goalkeeper. This was Dushimes first career goal for the Mustangs.

Central Maine seemed in control of the game but with 31:53 left in the game Husson would get on the score sheet. A freekick was mis-cleared and Husson forward who pounced on the ball and struck home from close range.

Husson would capitalize on some poor Mustangs defending on 2 consecutive corners. Husson would score the tying goal with 2:20 to go, and the winning goals with 55 seconds left.

The Mustangs are on the road this Saturday as they travel to Northern Essex Community College seeking to return to winning ways.
