All-Americans aplenty in fall sports

Auburn, ME - The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) recognized their fall sports All-Americans over the weekend, and four Mustangs were among the country's best.

Women's Volleyball standout, Tiara Begishe (Kayenta, AZ), who earlier this fall was recognized as the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) Most Valuable Player, earned 1st Team All-American honors. Begishe helped the Mustangs to their best season in the program's short history, finishing 4-6, including wins in 3 out of their last 4 matches.

Suab Nur (Mogadishu, Somalia) was 10th in the country in goals scored, helping him earn 1st Team All-American honors as well. Nur helped the Mustangs win the YSCC Tournament Championship, securing a bid to the USCAA National Tournament.

Women's Soccer juniors, Samantha Belardo (Russell, MA) and Rachel Dunn (Marshfield, MA), were both recongized as USCAA 1st Team All-Americans. Belardo was 6th in the country in goals scored, firing off a hat trick in each of the last three regular season games for the Mustangs. Dunn led the country in assists.

According to Athletic Director, Dave Gonyea, "We had a tremendous fall season. Our coaches and students accomplished a lot of firsts for their programs. With COVID-19 cancelling last season, and still looming heavy, it was clear that our fall sports team were ready for the challenge. Tiara, Suab, Rachel, and Samantha worked extremely hard, and performed when the pressure was on. This is, by far, the most successful fall season we have ever had at the college, and it is because of our dedicated students and coaches."
