Mustang Baseball Season Preview

Auburn, ME - The Mustangs led by head coach Ryan Palmer finished runner up in the NECBA with a 20-6 record this past fall season. They were led by Skowhegan grad Jimmy Reed who finished the fall batting .446 with 15 stolen bases from the lead off spot. Corey Armstrong had a strong fall batting .402 with 12 extra base hits and 13 rund score from the three hole. Caleb Valliere led the way on the mound with a 6-1 record, 1.12 ERA and 35 strikeouts. 

Coach Palmer is very excited about the spring season, "We lost a few players after the fall season for various reasons, but what we added for the spring season makes us collectively better." The Mustangs added four top level players: Jake Arel from Edward Little, Caden Truman from Oxford Hills, Stefan Lesco from Somers, CT and Shane Sullivan from Fredericton New Brunswick. "All four of our new players bring something different to the table," Palmer said, "Caden and Stef bolster the middle of our lineup and add some pop. Shane and Jake add depth to our pitching staff. Jake is a phenomenal all round player."

Palmer is joined by Brett Turenne on the staff who takes care of a lot of recruiting and serves as the pitching coach. "Brett does a lot for this program. We work well together. He was definitely a good pick up for CM," prasied Palmer. Terrance McCormick rounds out the coaching staff serving as the bench coach. The Mustangs four captains are Reid Cote, Will Bean, Corey Armstrong and Caleb Valliere. 

The Mustangs open up their season at home March 26 against Northern Essex CC at 12pm and 2pm.
