Auburn, ME - When Malik Farley and Corey David started their journey at CM, they had goals in mind as to what they wanted to accomplish during their careers. Corey had a personal goal of getting to 1,000 points in his career. Malik who may look undersized at 5'9", is in the top 6 in the conference in rebounding. He can get up there with the best of them. During the last weekend double-header for the men's basketball team, both Malik and Corey hit milestone numbers for their career.

Corey was chipping away at his 1,000th point mark heading into the weekend. After having a massive 30-point game at NHTI, he headed to Vermont Tech just 6 points shy of the accomplishment. With his eyes on the prize, he continued his hot shooting from the night before and went for 25 points. As soon as he made the money shot for points 1,000 of his career, he signaled to the bench 1- 0-0-0 with his fingers. It was a career accomplishment that he had dreamed about and worked tirelessly for as he battled through injury and COVID during his time at CM. During his junior year, he tore his ACL and missed the entire season. The year after that, the world was stopped because of COVID and college athletics were paused. Therefore, this accomplishment was a long time coming and probably worth the wait in his eyes.

On the other end, Malik has continuously been rebounding since the day he got on campus. This season he averages 7.3 rebounds per game for a small forward. Going into the NHTI and Vermont Tech weekend he only needed 12 rebounds to reach the elusive 350 career rebounds. With 7 rebounds in the loss to NHTI, he followed it up with a big rebounding game, pulling down 12 boards against Vermont Tech. For a 5'9" guard this accomplishment shows just how hard Malik works on the court. His work ethic and athleticism has been the key to his success. During his time at CM, there was never any doubt that he left his heart and soul on the court each night.

What's next for the Mustang's dynamic senior duo? They aren't sure and not truly focused on the next chapter as they are enjoying the last bit of college. Corey has talked about running with the chance of playing professional basketball overseas. However, he is trusting in what's meant to be will be. If that doesn't work itself out, he figures he will get into coaching so that he is still involved with the game that he loves. Malik wants to test the waters of playing overseas as well. However, he has figured out a couple other options just in case that first plan doesn't pan out. He recently started a job with FedEx in the warehouse department and has discussed joining the National Guard.

Wherever their paths take them, they will forever be in grained in the history of men's basketball here at CM. There is a special bond between Malik and Corey with the rest of the Mustang community. Everyone on campus knows them. Everyone in town knows them. There will be a hole to fill for sure when they leave campus for the last time. However, they can leave knowing, they left it all on the court and accomplished many things here. We thank them and wish them the best moving forward!
