Auburn, ME - Our Men's Soccer team made their first National Tournament Appearance. They travelled to Virginia Beach where they took on #1 seed Five Towns College in the tournament opening game. Abdibaari Hersi and Abdirahman Daud scored in the first half to give the Mustangs a 2-0 lead at half-time. Despite going down 2-3, the Mustangs were able to tie the game late in the second half, before falling to Five Towns in penalty kicks. Coach Bryan Wallace praised the team after the game, "They showed our program can contend with the best in the USCAA. Our guys have a lot of passion for the game and participating in the National Tournament is going to continue to be our expectation." The team finished the season 9-3-2 overall with a 4-1-1 conference record. Suab Nur led the team with thirteen goals in his first season as a Mustang. We could not have been prouder of how our student-athletes represented themselves, CMCC, and our community on the biggest stage.

On the women's side, the Mustangs ended the season with a record 6-7 which included securing the program's first ever win over rival SMCC. It was a storybook win over SMCC as the game was played in front of over 500 people, the largest crowd to watch a women's soccer game at the school. The key to the Mustangs all season when playing from behind was their ability to wear teams down and being able to play with high energy and confidence. Unfortunately, their season would end with a 1-0 home playoff loss to SMCC. Head Coach, Rob Rodriguez, commented, "Certainly, the results were not what we wanted but this was a high quality, fast-paced college soccer game that neither team deserved to lose. It was exciting and entertaining for the entire 90-minutes and both teams left it all on the field and for that I was proud to be a part of it." Samantha Belardo led the team with fourteen goals during her junior campaign. After not playing for 660 days, we are excited to see the growth in the program next season.
