South Portland, ME - Coming off a win vs. College of Saint Joseph, the Lady Mustangs traveled to South Portland for their second meeting with Southern Maine Community College, but their first of the year as a conference matchup. The Mustangs, still trying to overcome some injuries and sick players, never really got a chance to get going as the Seawolves dominated play, getting on the scoreboard in the 7th minute of play. Central Maine did have a chance to even the score shortly afterwards when a Megan Duval shot hit the post in the 9th minute. A follow-up shot by Olivia Dooley was saved by the Seawolves keeper and then play went back down the field resulting in several Southern Maine shots and their second goal of the game. Play stayed mostly in the Mustang half of the field for the next fifteen minutes which saw several more shots go into the Central Maine net. The half ended with the Seawolves holding onto a comfortable 7-0 lead.

The second half was basically a repeat of the first with the Mustangs unable to mount much of an attack against a tough Southern Maine team. The Seawolves would go on to score three second half goals before Duval, was able to take the ball to the net and put a shot past the Southern Maine keeper in the final minute of play. The game ended with Southern Maine over Central Maine by a score of 10-1.

The Central Maine goalkeeping duo of Shantel Camber and Dakota Goguen faced a total of 40 shots over the course of the game. The Lady Mustangs look to rebound from this loss with a home game this Friday, Sept 23 against the UMaine Machias Clippers.

With the loss the Lady Mustangs drop to 1-5 overall and 1-3 in YSCC Action.
