Unity, ME - After a good performance at home against Machias in a hard fought loss a week ago, the Lady Mustangs took to the road and were looking forward to their matchup with Unity College, another top team. The Mustangs have become a good defensive team, but the Unity's multi-player attack and their good midfield possession tend to wear down even the best of defenses. Starting the game with a three-back system in order to generate more offense up top, the Mustangs found themselves playing too much of the game in their defensive third in the first ten minutes of the game but it still took nearly to the midpoint of the first half before Unity could get on the scoreboard. After a few adjustments the Mustangs began to play more of the game at midfield and it would be another fourteen minutes before the Rams would tally another goal. The half ended at 2-0 Unity.

The second half saw Central Maine come out with a renewed energy, switching to a four-back system and some personnel changes at midfield that resulted in the game being played a little more evenly up and down the field, forcing Unity to shoot from farther out instead of penetrating the Mustang defense. The Rams did score on a well-placed shot to the upper right corner to make it 3-0 but the Mustangs continued to play hard, never feeling like they were out of the game. Unity would eventually score their final goal in the last five minutes to make the score 4-0, which is how the game ended.

Central Maine goalkeeper Shantel Camber made 16 saves on 20 shots on goal. The Lady Mustangs take on the Southern Maine Community College Seawolves at home on Tuesday Oct 4 at 3:30 pm.
