Lisbon Goalkeeper chooses CM

Auburn, ME - Alexandra (Ali) Sult has committed to play soccer at Central Maine this fall.  A four-year varsity player for Lisbon High School, Ali is also a four-year Class C South Conference All-Star.  In her freshman campaign, she was All-Conference honorable mention, while earning 1st Team All Conference during her sophomore, junior, and senior years.  Also, in 2016 Ali was a Sun-Journal 1st Team All-Region selection along with being a team captain for Lisbon.  As a Maine Soccer Coaches Class C Regional All-Star, Ali played in the Senior Bowl last November where she was teamed up with incoming CM recruit Brittany Greig from Dirigo HS.  In the Sun Journal Girls Soccer Pre-Season Preview, Ali was mentioned as one of the states top goalkeepers.  In her senior season, this past fall, she helped her team to the second round of the state playoffs with a 6-4-4 regular season record posting 136 saves on 199 shots with 5 shutouts and only 21 goals allowed on the season.

Current Lisbon High School Coach, Brian Dube, comments that, "Ali is the ultimate team player! She sacrifices her body to make every save that she can."

Former Lisbon High School Coach, Jake Gentle, who coached Ali for three years says that, "Ali is strong and agile, plays her angles well and is aggressive attacking the ball.  Ali is a vocal leader on the field, encourages her teammates and leads by example.  She is respected by her teammates and is friends with them on and off the field."

Butch Dow, Ali's personal goalkeeper coach, says that, "Ali is a commanding performer with a real presence in the goal and comes off her line very well.  She is very vocal with her communication and good on the ground as well as in the air.  Ali will be a real asset to the team."

When asked why she chose CM Ali said, "I chose CM because I loved the atmosphere and the people I met and I also liked the fact that you can get to all of your classes easily.  I believe that college soccer will be different from high school in the intensity and amount of teamwork.  I'm looking forward to meeting and becoming part of a team that plays together and works together not only on but off the field.  I believe that I can bring a positive attitude and give the team 100% of my energy."

Central Maine Head Women's Soccer Coach, Rob Rodriguez, says that "In order to have a highly competitive team this season, we must have depth at every position.   Ali adds that depth.  The report on her is that she is very coachable and an extremely hard worker, so I have no doubt that she will fit in with our team very well."

Sult will be studying Graphic Communications at Central Maine.
