Auburn, ME - Coming off a disappointing one-sided loss to SMCC two days ago, the Lady Mustangs hosted top ranked UMaine-Machias in what turned out to be a very evenly played match and a much tougher game than the Clippers expected.  The Mustangs were on a mission to improve the play of their midfield to gain better control of the game and they did exactly that.  The center mid play of Jaden Arcelaschi, Ellie Jasper, Megan Duval, and Amber Pritchard continuously pressured the Clipper attack forcing them to shoot from long range throughout most of the game.  Outside midfielders Olivia Dooley and Anna Quinlan contributed a lot to the Central Maine offense by moving the ball well up the field and pressuring the Machias team when they had the ball.  Defenders Dakota Goguen, Cheyenne Gray, Emily Rubino, and Trisha Wilson held a steady line throughout the entire game and continuously frustrated the Clipper attack.  The half time score was 0-0.

In the second half, the Mustang midfield suffered a 15-minute lapse in positioning that saw the Clippers score the only three goals of the game.  Central Maine pulled it together again over the remainder of the game and finished strong with several scoring chances that unfortunately were unsuccessful. 

Central Maine goalkeeper Shantel Camber made 10 saves on 13 shots on goal.   Central Maine will continue to work on improving the strength of their attack as they have a week to prepare for their next game.  The Mustangs travel to Unity College to take on the Rams on Friday, September 30th.
