Mustangs kick Seawolves

South Portland, ME - The CM Men's Soccer Team traveled to South Portland to face Southern Maine Community College for the first of two meetings the rivals will have this season. The first half saw a lot of action, but it was not until a penalty was awarded to CM just a few yards outside the box that allowed CM captain, Abdibaari Hersi, to score. Hersi blasted a shot that deflected of the wall and into the goal. The game remained 1-0 at halftime.

SMCC came out had and just nine minutes into the second half evened the game when Eriksen Shea collected a misplayed ball from the CM defense to score in an empty goal. Just three and a half minutes later the Mustangs were again on top after Suab Nur provided a through ball to Mohmed Matan who finished the opportunity. However, the Seawolves would not go quietly. David Wilson was given a free kick four yards outside the penalty area and his ball into the middle found Laszio Dorogi who was able to find the back of the net.

The game was again tied, but it did not last long. In the seventy-first minute, Mohamed Matan returned the favor by finding Suab Nur who in a great individual effort got past two SM defenders before scoring. And with a little more than two minutes remaining, Mohamed Matan got on the end of a free kick taken by Abdibaari Hersi to finish the game out 4-2.

The CM Men's Soccer Team has their first YSCC game at home on Sunday at 4:00pm when they host the Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences.
