Auburn, ME - Despite trailing by as much as 10 points in the final quarter, the Mustangs never seemed rattled. CM battles foul trouble and poor shooting, but in typical fashion, they found a way. This time, to the tune of a 13-0 run in the final quarter and hang on for the 60-57 victory over Southern Maine Community College. The Mustangs were outscored in each of the first three quarters, but their stingy full court defense held the Seawolves to just 2 fields goals and 7 total points in the 4th to earn the win.

Destiny Mora Lopez dominated the second half, and finished with a 21 point 12 rebound double-double. Mora Lopez scored 11 points in the 4th while ripping down 5 rebounds in the quarter. Rosa Prieto was the only other Mustang in double-figures. She connected for 10 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists.

Maddy York was the lone SMCC player in double-figures. She scored 17 points and connected for 5 three pointers.

The Mustangs pulled down 19 offensive rebounds and out-rebounded the Seawolves by +11. The rebounding advantage led to the Mustangs outscoring the Seawolves 13-6 in second chance points. Despite the foul trouble, the Mustangs forced 19 turnovers, and scored 21 points off of them.

After the game, Head Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong, commented, "We do not like trailing by double figures in the fourth quarter, but we seem to be comfortable in almost any situation. This is twice that we have made this type of comeback this season. I am very proud of our young team. They just have confidence in each other, in what we are doing, and don't ever hang their head. Tonight was the Destiny show. She carried us, especially down the stretch. She works tirelessly, and we are very hard on her. Tonight she flourished on the biggest stage and I could not be happier for her."

With the win the Mustangs improve to 11-1 on the year and 5-0 in the YSCC. After a brief winter break, games will resume again in January.
