Women's Basketball dominates Bunker Hill

Auburn, ME - A total team effort propelled the Mustangs to a 114-40 victory over the Bulldogs of Bunker Hill Community College Sunday evening. The game was never in douby after the Mustangs outscored the Bulldogs 26-8 in the first quarter.

All 12 healthy players played at least 12-minutes for the Mustangs, which had 6 players in double-figures. CM was led by Ella Lavigne who shot 77% (10-13) from the floor and finished with 24 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals in just 17 minutes of action. Rosa Prieto caught fire again, finishing with 18 points, including 4 triples, and 7 assists. Making her first career start, Aiwen Maiwen was a spark from the opening tip and finished with 10 points and 6 rebounds. Destiny Mora Lopez was once again in double-figures, hitting for 12 points and 5 rebounds.

Jolien Defoort narrowly missed a double-double, finishing with 10 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists. Zoe Bedford tied a career-high with 7 three pointers to finish with 21 points and 6 rebounds.

The Mustangs set the women's basketball program record, dishing out 38 assists (previous record: 37). Mikenzie Melendez dished out a career-high 9 assists, while only recording a single turnover. 

CM improves to 17-1 on the season and will be back in action on Tuesday, January 30th at 6:00pm when they host the Moose of UMaine Augusta.
