Men's Ice Hockey Names Captains

Auburn, ME - Head Men's Ice Hockey Coach, Kevin Cady, announced the innaugural season's team leaders.  Matt Henderson (Barrington, NH) will serve as captain, while Caleb LaBrie (Greene, ME), Kenny Miller (Stevens Point, WI), and Jordy Knoren (Heerlen, Netherlands) are all tagged as assistant captains.

Henderson, a forward, starred for Dover High School and later played junior hockey for the AJHL Laconia Leafs, NA3EHL Maine Wild and, this past season, with the GMHL (Toronto) Kingsville Kings and Parry Sound Islanders in Canada. During 45 games last season Henderson scored 25 goals, 26 assists for 51 total points.

Forward, Caleb Labrie is a St Dominic Academy alumni and last season played for the South Shore Kings U18. For the Kings Caleb played 21 games scoring 4 goals with 7 assists for 11 points.

Goaltender, Kenny Miller played in Colorado with the Mountain States Renegades and captured two state championships; one was the CAHA state championship and the other a CCYHL state championship.

Knoren, a forward, played last season for the NA3EHL Maine Wild. During 80 games played Jordy tallied 20 goals, 48 assists for 68 total points. Knoren has represented The Netherlands in the 2013 and 2014 World Championships winning one gold medal as champions in the 2013 - U18 bid.

The Mustangs will begin collegiate hockey competition during the upcoming 2016-17 season at the Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn, Maine. The first game at home is October 12th at 8:40 pm vs University of Maine at Orono. The official home opener is Saturday October 15th with the puck drop at 3:10 pm vs Dartmouth College. The game will feature a pre-game ceremony with special guests and dignitaries attending. Central Maine closes out the weekend on Sunday at 10:10 am vs Dartmouth at the Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn.

Central Maine will compete in the American Collegiate Hockey Association, an organization of over 415 college and university affiliated programs under the umbrella of USA Hockey. Now celebrating its 25th season of existence, the ACHA provides structure, regulates operations, and promotes the quality of collegiate ice hockey. Since 1991 the ACHA has sent 18 players on to pro careers; including 12 to the NHL. The 2016-2017 season schedule is posted on the Central Maine webpage.
