Mustangs fall at UNE

Biddeford, ME - The Mustang's dropped their first road game of the season 5-3 to host UNE Nor'easters at Alfond Forum in Biddeford this afternoon. The Mustangs, winners of their past four games, started out by trading goals with the Nor'easters on a Cameron Burpee goal assisted by Caleb Labrie. Cade Chapman put the Mustangs ahead by one on an unassisted snipe from the left point.

The Mustangs failed to show-up for the second period and spent the majority of time taking needless penalties; including a game misconduct by Mustang Sedrick Simons for jawing with the referee. The Mustangs also lost defensemen Cade Chapman for the third period. The Nor'easters capitalized with skill on the resulting power plays scoring four unanswered goals to end the period up 5 to 1.

Central Maine regained composure in the third period playing with the type of determination seen in the past four games. The focus played third period was for naught, even after scoring the only third period goal of the contest; a goal by Labrie on a feed from Matt Poulin.

Mike Jones played very well in his first game in net for the Mustangs stopping 38 UNE shots. The Mustangs mustered just 32 shots on goal. Dylan Farrell-Reny was voted team player of the game. Farrell-Reny was steady on right defense, making several excellent defensive plays, key hits in the zone, and was a forward on the power play.
