RIC outlasts CM

Providence, RI - The Central Maine hockey team took on host Rhode Island College Friday evening. The contest was marred by fifteen CM penalties to RIC's twelve. The difference was given to RIC who scored seven power play goals on their fifteen attempts.

Jordy Knoren opened the scoring for CM following RIC's initial goal to open the game. Caleb LaBrie, Matthew Henderson, and Dylan Farrell-Reny followed with goals in the first period. The Anchormen followed with three goals; the last with 1.8 seconds left in the first period. "It is a cardinal sin to allow a goal in the final minute of a period" said Coach Kevin Cady. "I felt we were lackadaisical late in the period and a change in net was needed to start the second period." CM replaced Joshua Ehiorobo in goal with Kenny Miller.

In the second period Sedric Simonds tallied for CM while RIC scored three second period goals in the second period.

The third period began RIC 6 CM 5 and the game went into chippy mode with penalties being drawn by both teams. Knoren and LaBrie both scored their second goals of the game. Goalie Miller was the victim of a pile-up in his crease and left the game for Mike Jones in relief. However, RIC was the better team in the period scoring four goals ending CM's bid for their second win on the road.

CM goes 6 and 3 on the season and will take-on Bates College next Wednesday evening at 6:15 pm in Lewiston.
