Men's Ice Hockey beats cross town rival Bates, 6-3

Lewiston, ME - In the first of many to come, and a certain fierce rivalry in the making, Central Maine Community College hockey beat Bates College tonight 6-3 in Lewiston. Team Captain Caleb LaBrie paced the Mustangs with a hat trick and four-point night. Evan Sullivan, Jordy Knoren - goal and two assists, and Matt Poulin – goal and two assists, rounded out the goal scoring. Keagan Crawley, Cameron Burpee, Steve Mercia, Cade Chapman, Dylan Farrell-Reny (2), Kevin Knight all contributed with assist. Goaltender Tyler Friel was credited with the win stopping 25 of 27 Bobcat shots while Bates' Mike Mulach was tagged with the loss.

Keegan Crawley left the game with an upper body injury and Reid Cotnoir went down with a lower body injury. The game became chippy during the third period as Bates became frustrated with the more skilled and determined Mustang squad.

"We were prepared for this game and executed early. Tyler Friel was solid in goal and we had a good all-around effort from the bench" said Assistant Coach Marc Gosselin.

Bates saw scoring from Bobcats Mark Upton, Nick Barker, and Morgan Dewdney.

The Mustangs are 7-3 on the season and finish out an already very successful inaugural first half this Saturday, December 11th vs Castleton University at the Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn - game time at 6:10 p.m.  The Mustang's are asking fans and all CM students to wear white on Saturday for a traditional "White Out" game to cheer the team to victory.
