Mustangs sweep Lynx

Auburn, ME - The CM Softball team hosted the Lynx of NHTI for double header action Thursday night under the lights.

Game 1: Mustangs, 8-1

The Mustangs started game one with second-year Olivia Scott (Quispamsis, New Brunswick), who pitched 3 innings allowing only 2 hits, 2 strike outs while walking only 1 batter and not allowing any runs to cross the plate. The Mustangs next gave the ball to third-year, Haley Fernald (Bridgton, ME) who pitched the 4th and 5th inning allowing 3 hits, 2 strike outs while walking two batters and giving up 1 run. The Mustangs then turned to Makayla Gross (Farmington, ME) in the six inning to close the game out. Gross in relief gave up 2 hits, no earned run, 0 walks and 1 strikeout.

The Mustangs offense produced 11 hits in game 1 while being paced by second-year Emily Sanfacon (Lebanon, ME). Sanfacon blasted a two-run triple, while Avery Herrick (Dexter, ME) added 2 more RBI's. Scott, Abby Ferland (Monmouth, ME), and Erin Gosselin (Monmouth, ME) each added 2 hits. Olivia Gallon (S. Paris, ME), Maria Dostie (Lewiston, ME), and Fernald all contributed hits for CM.

Game 2: Mustangs W, 12-2

In game 2, the Mustangs went with first-year Avery Herrick (Dexter, ME) to make the start. Herrick pitched 4 Innings allowing 7 hits, 5 strike outs while walking 2 batters and allowing 2 runs to cross the plate. The Mustangs turned to Becca Ackerson (Whitefield, ME) in the fifth inning. Ackerson in relief gave up 0 hits, 0 earned run, 1 walk and 1 strikeout.

The Mustangs come out aggressive at the plate against the Lynx. The Mustangs slugged 11 hits. Of those 11 hits 4 were blasted for Home Runs! Ackerson nailed 2 and Emily Wormwood (Bowdoinham, ME) and Addyson Herrick (Dexter, ME) each had one. Olivia Gallon (S. Paris, Me), Maddy Boynton (2) (China, ME), Abby Ferland (Monmouth, ME), Avery Herrick, and Makayla Gross (Farmington, Me) each contributed hits for the Mustangs. The Mustangs were also quick on the base paths as Olivia Gallon and Avery Herrick each added steals.

Herrick picked up the win for the Mustangs while Allison Taylor took the loss for NHTI

After the game Head Coach, Bruce Robertson, commented, "This was a great couple wins for us. NHTI are one of our conference rivals. They have been on top of the YSCC for several years. These wins will hopefully show everyone the hard work and time our players and coaching staff have been putting into our program and getting our players ready to take that step forward and hopefully change the look of softball in the YSCC!"
