Mustangs Sweep Huskies

Auburn, Me - The CM Softball team sweep the Word of Life Huskies Sunday afternoon in a double header.

Game 1: Mustangs W, 27-0

The Mustangs started game one with Olivia Scott (Quispamsis, New Brunswick) who pitched 3 innings. Scott collected 6 strike outs, walking no batters and allowing no runners to cross the plate. In the 4th inning the Mustangs turned to Makayla Gross (Farmington, Me) who went 2 innings allowing 1 hit, no runs with 5 strike outs and walking no batters.

The Mustangs had their bats going collecting 12 hits in game 1. The Mustangs were paced by Haley Fernald (Bridgton, Me) who had 3 hits and 3 RBI's. Two of those hits by Fernald were doubles. Emily Wormwood (Bowdoinham, Me) added 2 hits and 3 RBI's. Emily Sanfacon (Lebenon, Me) also had 2 hits both for doubles while adding 5 RBI's. Abby Ferland (Monmouth, Me)  with 2 hits one being a double and adding 4 RBI's. Olivia Scott helped herself with 2 hits one being a double and adding 3 RBI's as well. Makayla Gross also added a hit. Olivia Gallon (S. Paris, Me) added 2 RBI's and added 3 stolen bases. Maria Dostie (Lewiston, Me) added 2 RBI's as well

Game 1 saw the Mustangs commit one error.

Game 2: Mustangs W, 22-2

In game 2, the Mustangs turned to first-year Avery Herrick (Dexter, ME) who pitched 3 innings. Herrick collected 8 strike outs, walking 2 batters 2 hits and allowed no runner to cross the plate. In the 4th inning the Mustangs turned to Haley Fernald (Bridgton, Me) who went 2 innings allowing 0 hits, 2 runs with 3 strike outs and walking 4 batters and allowing 2 runs.

The Mustangs picked up where they left off in game 1 with 13 hits. Haley Fernald again had 3 hits two being doubles and added 4 RBI's. Olivia Scott with 2 hits with one being a triple and also adding 4 RBI's. Avery Herrick added 2 doubles and 3 RBI's with Addyson Herrick driving a double and 4 RBI's. Maria Dostie had 2 hits and 2 RBI's. Emily Wormwood had 2 hits and 2 RBI's while Makayla Gross added a hit and an RBI. Olivia Gallan had an RBI and 2 more stolen bases.

Game 2 saw the Mustangs commit no errors.

After the game Head Coach Bruce Robertson, commented, "It was nice to get a couple more wins at home as our next couple games are on the road. We hit the ball well today. Before the game started i challenged the players to stay up and modivated for both games and they did. All four pitchers pitched well today. Now to keep up this intensity up as we come down the stretch and the remainder of the season." 

The Mustangs are back in action Saturday, April 23rd, when they travel to Bay Path College.
