Auburn, ME – The 2016-17 women's basketball campaign will be one of the toughest schedules the program has ever faced, and the Lady Mustangs are eager for the opportunity. Four division 3 schools highlight the non-conference action, while the overall schedule is made up of 21 out of 29 games against 4-year schools.

As usual, the season will kick off with the annual Can-Am Tournament, with CM hosting the University of New Brunswick – St. John (October 22nd) and Cegep Champlain – St. Lawrence (October 23rd). The following weekend, the Lady Mustangs play host to Berkeley College, an annual USCAA powerhouse. The Knights and Mustangs last met in the 2014 USCAA National Semifinal, with CM pulling out the close win.

The non-conference slate is highlighted by a pair of games vs. NESCAC (NCAA DIII) schools. On Friday, November 18th, CM will travel to Brunswick, ME to take on NCAA DIII national powerhouse, Bowdoin College. The following day, November 19th, the Lady Mustangs head across the bridge to Lewiston, to take on their neighbor, Bates College. Both matchups will be the first countable games for CM against either school.

The rest of the non-conference schedule will see action against UMaine-Presque Isle (home & away), Dean College (home & away), who is transitioning to NCAA DIII, and NJCAA power, CCRI.

The conference schedule will be made up of games against, Southern Maine CC, UMaine-Augusta, NHTI, UMaine-Machias, Great Bay CC, Paul Smith's College, Vermont Tech, Hampshire College, and Unity College.

According to Head Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong, "The 2016-17 schedule presents a level of competition that our program hasn't quite seen before. Countable games game against Bowdoin and Bates is a tremendous opportunity for our program, and the entire CM family. Having such a challenging non-conference schedule should prepare us for conference play, and force our young squad to mature quickly. We are excited to take these challenges head on, and compete for another YSCC title and berth into the USCAA National Tournament."
