Machias, ME - The depth and pressure defense overwhelmed the Clippers of UMaine-Machias, as the Lady Mustangs sailed to a 70-33 decision on Saturday.  Despite cold shooting from beyond the arc (0-9), CM doubled up the Clippers in the 1st half, leading 34-17 at the break.  The 2nd half, was more of the same, as 11 Lady Mustangs played double-digit minutes, wearing down the Clippers.

Brooke Reynolds (Poland, ME) once again led CM, this time with 15 points, 8 steals, and 7 rebounds, while shooting 7-10 from the floor in just 20-minutes of action.  Eraleena Gethers-Hairston (Auburn, ME) notched another double-double, with 10 points, 14 rebounds, and 3 blocks.  Gethers-Hairston has now recorded double-digit rebounds in 9 consecutive games.  Rylee Moore (Livermore, ME) came off the bench to score 8 points to lead the reserves that outscored the Clippers bench, 28-8.

CM forced 29 turnovers, while only giving the ball up 8 times themselves, and won the battle on the boards, 51-30.

Tianna Harriman (Auburn, ME) dished out a game-high 6 assists.

Alicen Brooks led Machias with 14 points on 5-7 shooting.

According to Coach Morong, "After spending about 4-hours on the bus, I was pleased with how we started the game on the offensive end.  After some inconsistencies in the first half, we made an assertive effort to get the ball into the paint.  Once we did that our ball movement improved drastically and we were able to get some great looks.  Defensively I thought we communicated quite well, and our rotations were, at times, the best we've seen all year.  Any time you get multiple 5-second inbound, 10-second back court, and 30-second shot clock violations in a game, you know you're heading down the right path."

With the win the Lady Mustangs improve to 24-1 overall and 11-0 in the Yankee Conference.  They host UMaine-Machias on Monday at 5pm, with pre-game festivities including Student-Athlete Recongition Night and sophomore guard, Nicole Hamblin, singing the national anthem.  A win on Monday would lock up a perfect home record for CM, a first in over a decade.
