Unity, ME - Missing 4 key players was not enough to slow down the Lady Mustangs, as they jumped out early with their transition game on their way to a 100-26 victory over the Rams.  Of the 12 active players, 11 found the scoring column with 5 in double-figures, including 2 double-doubles and 1 near triple-double.  All 12 players played at least 15-minutes each.

Taylor Esty (Rangeley, ME) led the Lady Mustangs with 16 points and 11 rebounds (8 offensive) off the bench.  Esty is just playing her 2nd game since December 16th when she suffered a fracture in her hand.  Brooke Reynolds (Poland, ME) just missed a triple-double, finishing with 15 points, 9 rebounds, 7 steals, and 2 blocks in just 15-mintues of play.  Eraleena Gethers-Hairston (Auburn, ME) grabbed another double-double, finishing with 10 points, 14 rebounds (7 offensive), 2 steals, and 2 blocks.  Samantha Burke (Jefferson,  ME) just missed a double-double of her own with 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals, while captain, Kristina Blais (Lewiston, ME) hit for 12 points.

Tianna Harriman (Auburn, ME) dished out a game-high 8 assists while snatching 5 steals to go along with her 5 points.  Mikayla Yanez (Lisbon, ME) and Hayley Peterson (Bethel, ME) each hit a 3, and took a charge.

The game was never in doubt, but the Lady Mustangs clamped down in the second half, allowing only 7 points.  They out-rebounded the Rams by a 60-17 margin, pulling down a season-high 32 offensive rebounds.

According to Coach Morong, "As we continue to battle through injuries and sickness it is great to see players step up and make a significant impact in the game.  We are still a work in progress, but things are slowly coming together.  You always want to hit your stride at the right time, and we clearly have not done that... yet.  We'll continue to trust the process, and plan to be playing our best basketball this month."

Raeann Bond led the Rams with 9 points.

With the win the Lady Mustangs improve to 23-1 overall and 10-0 in the Yankee Conference.  Their 8-game win streak will be put to the test with a brutal stretch of games to wrap up the regular season.  Awaiting CM are 4 games in 7 days, including 3 road games (2/4 @ Machias, 2/8 @ SMCC, 2/10 @ NHTI), with their final home game scheduled for Monday, February 6th vs. UMaine-Machias at 5pm.
