Amherst, MA - After an even 1st quarter, CM came out firing, outscoring the host 33-9 in the 2nd quarter for a 48-24 half time lead, and coasted from there.  Still missing 3 impact players (Esty, Schlim, & Reynolds), the Lady Mustangs found their groove after the 4-hour bus ride and rocky first quarter to pull away for the 91-37 victory.  With the win, CM improves to 21-1 overall, and has already exceeded last year's win total (20-10).

Allie Ablondi (Thompson, CT) looked like her old self, knocking down 3 treys and hitting for a season-high and game-high 16 points.  Nicole Hamblin (Fayette, ME) and Seve Deery-Deraps (Rangeley, ME) eached poured in 14 points while combining to go 5-9 from deep, and Tianna Harriman connected on 2 long balls herself, finishing with 13 points.

Ellie Harrington (Hampshire, UK), Jane Lester (Bundaberg, Australia), Hayley Peterson (Bethel, ME), Kristina Blais (Lewiston, ME), and Ablondi all drew at least 1 offensive foul.  Eraleena Gethers-Hairston pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds, her 6th straight game with double-digit boards.

Coach Morong on the win, "We have been challenging our veterans, specifically Seve and Allie, to assert themselves for us.  We know how important they are to us in our quest to win a championship, and at times this season they seemed lost.  Challenge accepted, as tonight they really played with a lot of confidence and poise.  This is a great sign for our program, and we hope it is something they, and we, can build off of.  As we continue to play games without two of the top players in the conference, we are able to expose some of our women to game situations they may not have seen with others in the lineup.  This creates a deeper lineup, which is crucial for us as we prepare for a tournament run."

The Lady Mustang now sit at 8-0 in the Yankee Conference with a huge showdown looming on Monday night when they play host to UMaine-Augusta.
